Why does my baby gulp while bottle feeding?

It’s a little concerning to see your baby gulping down their bottle, especially if you’re not sure whether it’s normal or a potential issue. My baby seems to have mastered the art of gulping, and I can’t help but wonder if I should be worried or if this is just how they prefer to drink. It almost feels like they’re racing to finish!

I’ve tried changing the nipple flow to see if it would slow them down, but it seems like they can’t get enough of that milk. It can get pretty messy too, with milk dribbling everywhere and soaking their clothes. I’ve noticed some other parents mentioning similar situations, so I’m curious—has anyone else experienced this? Is it just excitement, or could it be something more?

Any tips on keeping feeding time manageable would be really helpful! How do you handle this with your little ones?

I totally get the gulping thing! My baby did that too, and it was such a mess. I found that using a slower flow nipple really helped. It still took some practice, but at least they weren’t drowning in milk every time!
