When should I stop swaddling my newborn?

Swaddling has been a lifesaver for helping my little ones sleep, but I’m starting to think about when to transition away from it. My youngest just turned four months, and I’ve read that some babies begin to roll over around this age, which can make swaddling unsafe. I definitely want to prioritize safety, but I’m also worried about how my baby will cope without that snug wrap.

I’ve heard mixed opinions from friends and family about the right time to stop swaddling. Some say to stop as soon as babies start to roll, while others suggest waiting until they seem ready to sleep without it. What strategies have you used to make this transition easier? Did you find any techniques that helped your baby feel secure without the swaddle? I’d love to hear your experiences!

I stopped swaddling my baby around the same time when they started rolling over, and it was definitely a challenge at first. I tried using a sleep sack instead, which seemed to help them feel cozy without the full-wrap feeling. Just gradually getting them used to it really made a difference!

I stopped swaddling my baby around four months too, but honestly, we just went cold turkey. I used a sleep sack instead, which seemed to help with the transition. It gave them that cozy feeling without being restrictive, and they adjusted pretty quickly!
