When is it okay to stop burping my baby after meals?

I’ve been feeling a bit overwhelmed with the whole feeding and burping routine, especially since my youngest is almost six months old now. I’ve come across different opinions on whether I should continue burping him after every feeding. Some parents say that once babies start on solids, burping becomes less important, while others believe it’s still necessary for a while longer.

Lately, I’ve noticed that he seems to be gassier, but I’m unsure if I’m trying to skip burping too soon. For those with similar experiences, when did you feel comfortable stopping burping sessions? Did you notice any changes in your baby’s comfort or feeding habits during that time?

With my baby, I started feeling okay about skipping burps after about six months too. Once they were on solids, I noticed less gas and way fewer spit-ups, but I still did a quick burp just to be safe. Every baby’s different, though, so trust your gut!

I stopped burping my little one around six months too, and honestly, I just played it by ear. If he seemed fussy or gassy, I’d go back to burping him a bit longer. Did you try adjusting how you feed him, like keeping him a bit more upright?
