What strategies do you use to manage toddlers' screen time?

Finding the right balance for toddlers’ screen time can be tricky. While educational shows and apps offer potential benefits, the risks of excessive screen exposure are hard to overlook. Many new parents, myself included, struggle with how to introduce screens in a healthy manner.

For those with experience, what methods have you found effective? Do you stick to strict limits, or do you prefer a more flexible approach? Additionally, how do you engage your child in non-screen activities, especially on hectic days? I’d love to hear your thoughts and any tips you have!

I try to keep screen time to just 30 minutes a day, mainly for educational shows, but on busy days, I’ll let it slide a bit. We love doing arts and crafts together, which helps keep things interesting. How do you find new non-screen activities that capture your toddler’s attention?

One thing that really worked for us was creating a “screen time schedule.” We kept it to about 30 minutes a day, and we always paired it with a fun activity afterward, like coloring or playing outside. It helped my kid understand that screens are a treat, not a default, plus it made those off-screen times feel more special!
