What’s your approach to scheduling baby’s solid food feedings?

Figuring out a feeding schedule for solids can feel overwhelming for many parents. Some seem to have nailed down a routine, while others are still searching for the right balance. With all the varying opinions and guidelines out there, determining how often to feed solids in addition to breast milk or formula can be confusing.

What strategies have you found effective in managing solid food feedings? Do you prefer keeping a consistent schedule, or do you lean towards a more flexible approach? Also, how do you deal with the mess and fussiness that often comes with introducing solids? I’m eager to hear your experiences and any tips that have worked for you!

I totally get the struggle! We just started with solids, and I found that sticking to a rough schedule helps, like feeding her at lunchtime and dinner. Keeps it simple and gives us a chance to gauge how she’s reacting. For the mess, I always put an old tablecloth under the high chair for easy clean-up!

I’ve been going more flexible with it lately. Sometimes I just offer solids when my baby seems interested, rather than sticking to a strict schedule. The mess is real, though—I’ve started using a bib that catches most of it, which helps a ton during mealtime!
