What milestones should I look for in my 7-year-old's development?

At 7 years old, I’ve noticed some pretty significant changes in my daughter’s behavior and abilities. She’s become more interested in reading and math, and it’s clear she’s developing a sense of independence. As I observe these milestones, I can’t help but wonder what specific developments I should be keeping an eye on to make sure she’s on the right track.

I’ve heard that social skills really grow at this age, especially when it comes to making friends. I’d love to hear from other parents—how do you support emotional growth during this stage? Additionally, how do you encourage your child to be independent while still offering guidance? What milestones have you observed in your kids around this age?

It’s great that she’s showing more interest in reading and math! My kid really blossomed socially at this age—playdates and group activities helped a ton. I also found that giving her small responsibilities, like choosing her own outfits or helping with simple chores, boosted her confidence and independence. Just balance it out with plenty of support when she needs it!
