What are your tips for weaning from breastfeeding?

Weaning from breastfeeding can feel overwhelming, especially as your little one becomes more independent. My two-year-old is starting to show interest in other foods and drinks, but letting go of those nightly feeds has been harder than I anticipated. Striking a balance between meeting their needs and establishing new routines has proven to be quite a challenge.

I’ve been trying to maintain a calm and consistent approach by introducing special cups and snacks, but some evenings still end in tears. I’m unsure if I’m doing this the right way or if I need to be more flexible. For those of you who have gone through this experience, what strategies worked for you? Did you face any challenges, and how did you comfort your child during the transition?

I just went through this a few months ago with my kid. Switching to a cup was a game-changer, but I also found it helped to have a little ritual before bed to replace the nursing, like reading a story. There were definitely some tough nights, but it got easier once they figured out the new routine. Just hang in there!
