Tips for Dealing with Teen Feeding Challenges

Dealing with feeding challenges in teenagers can feel like an emotional rollercoaster. One minute they’re eager to try new foods, and the next, they’re turned off by everything. Lately, my teen has become quite picky, only wanting to eat a handful of their favorite meals. It’s frustrating because I want them to get the nutrition they need, but every mealtime feels like a struggle.

Has anyone else gone through something similar? I’ve tried getting them involved in meal planning and cooking, but it hasn’t worked out as I had hoped. Balancing their independence with healthy eating habits is really tough.

How do you talk to your teens about food choices without making it a negative experience? I’d love to hear any tips you have for keeping mealtimes enjoyable!

I totally get the struggle! My teen went through a phase where they only wanted macaroni and cheese every day. I started letting them pick one new vegetable each week at the store, and it surprisingly helped spark some interest. Just keep it chill and don’t push too hard; sometimes they just need time to come around.

I totally get that! One thing that worked for us was creating a “fun food night” where everyone picks something to make; it’s less about the nutrition and more about enjoying the time together. Sometimes just switching up the mealtime vibe can change everything. Have you tried doing themed dinners?
