Hi everyone,
I’m a new parent trying to figure out exclusive pumping, and honestly, it’s a bit overwhelming. My baby’s feeding schedule seems to change daily, and I’m struggling to keep up with both pumping and feeding. I want to make sure my little one is getting enough milk without losing my sanity in the process.
I’ve come across advice about the importance of consistency, but with my job and the unpredictability of a newborn, it feels like a juggling act. How do you manage your pumping sessions while also fitting in feedings? What routines or tips have worked for you?
I’d love to hear from other parents in a similar situation. What does your exclusive pumping schedule look like, and how do you deal with the mental load? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
It really can feel like juggling at first! When I was exclusively pumping, I found it helpful to set specific times for pumping sessions, even if they had to be flexible based on my baby’s needs. A lot of parents swear by pumping every three hours, but I adjusted it to fit my work schedule, which made it less stressful.
Also, consider using a hands-free pumping bra. It saved me time and allowed me to multitask a bit more, whether it was catching up on emails or even spending a moment just relaxing. Don’t forget to be kind to yourself; it’s a learning curve, and you’re doing great!
It sounds tough! When I was pumping, I found it helpful to sync my sessions with my baby’s nap times. It made it easier to manage both feeding and pumping without feeling like I was constantly running around. Maybe try to carve out a flexible routine around those little breaks?
