Safe Remedies for Sore Throat While Breastfeeding?

Dealing with a sore throat while breastfeeding can be really challenging. As a parent, it’s hard to balance your own needs with taking care of your little one. I recently came down with a sore throat, and I’m looking for remedies that won’t affect my milk supply or harm my baby’s health. There’s so much conflicting information online, and it’s overwhelming trying to find reliable advice.

So far, I’ve tried warm salt water gargles and herbal teas, but I’m not sure if they’re really doing the trick. I’d love to hear from anyone who’s been in the same boat—what remedies worked for you that are safe while nursing? Are there any over-the-counter options you’d recommend?

I had a similar struggle not long ago. I found that honey in warm water helped soothe my throat, and it’s usually safe while nursing. Just make sure you’re not giving honey to the baby directly if they’re under a year old. Also, throat lozenges worked for me, but just check the ingredients to avoid anything too strong. Hope you feel better soon!

I get that! I was in the same situation a while back. Honey in warm water worked wonders for my throat, plus it’s safe while breastfeeding. I also found throat lozenges with minimal ingredients helped a bit, just make sure to check that they don’t have anything weird in them.
