Is meal prepping worth it for busy families in 2026?

As the school holidays come to an end and the daily hustle of family life kicks in, many of us are trying to find ways to keep everyone fed without losing our sanity. I’ve been thinking about meal prepping, but spending an entire Sunday in the kitchen doesn’t sound appealing. It seems like it could save us time during the week, but does it really work?

Some of my friends swear by meal prepping, saying it reduces their stress and keeps their kids satisfied at mealtimes. However, I’ve also heard from others that it can actually create more stress, especially when kids change their minds about what they want to eat last minute. Has anyone here tried meal prepping with kids of different ages? What has your experience been like?

Do you have any tips or tricks that made meal prepping easier for you? Or do you think it just complicates meals, especially for kids?

I’ve tried meal prepping with my kids, and honestly, it can be hit or miss. Some weeks it’s a lifesaver, like when I can just grab a prepped meal and heat it up. But other times, they want something totally different, and that can be a pain. Maybe try batch cooking a few go-to meals instead of a whole week’s worth?

I’ve got a few kids, and we started doing simpler meal prep—like just chopping veggies for the week or batch cooking grains. It takes way less time, and the kids can grab what they want without stressing over a planned meal. Plus, I’ve found it helps if they pick meals ahead of time; then, they’re more likely to eat them!
