Is It Safe to Drink Wine While Breastfeeding?

As a new parent, I’ve been looking for ways to take a breather after a long day, and enjoying a glass of wine sounds tempting. However, I’m curious about whether it’s safe to drink wine while breastfeeding. I’ve come across a lot of conflicting advice, and it can be overwhelming.

I’ve heard that moderate consumption might be fine, but I’m worried about its impact on milk supply and my baby. Are there any general guidelines on how much is considered safe? For those of you who have tried this, how did you handle it? Did you discover any tips for drinking wine safely?

Also, are there specific types of wine or timing around drinking that you found worked best? I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences!

I was in the same boat! I found that having a glass right after a breastfeeding session worked for me. It gave me time to enjoy it without worrying too much about the baby. Just make sure to stay hydrated and listen to your body – it’s all about moderation, really.

When I was breastfeeding, I had a glass of wine every now and then. I usually waited a couple of hours after drinking before nursing again. That seemed to work fine for me. Just make sure you’re not overdoing it, and trust your instincts about what’s right for you and your baby!
