Is it necessary to burp a newborn after breastfeeding?

There’s a lot of debate about whether or not to burp a newborn after breastfeeding. Some parents find it essential for reducing gas and discomfort, while others say their little ones are perfectly fine without it.

For those who have been through this, what did you do? Did you stick to a regular burping routine, or did you let it happen naturally? I’m interested to know if there’s a general consensus or if it all comes down to individual babies.

Have you noticed any changes in your baby’s comfort based on how often they burp? I’d love to hear your experiences!

I tried both approaches with my baby, and honestly, some days I’d burp him after every feeding, and other days I’d forget. He seemed fine either way, but I did notice he was less gassy on the days I remembered to burp him more consistently. It really does seem to vary by baby!

We did a mix of both! Sometimes I’d burp after every feed, but other times I’d just let it go if the baby seemed chill. Honestly, it felt like a bit of trial and error to see what worked for our little one. Did you find any particular method that helped with your baby’s comfort?
