How much screen time is appropriate for toddlers in 2026?

With the abundance of apps and shows designed for toddlers today, it’s tough to determine if some screen time is actually beneficial or more harmful. I’ve noticed my kids can become really engaged with certain educational programs, but I worry they might miss out on outdoor play if they spend too much time in front of a screen. Finding the right balance feels like a challenge.

I’ve recently started trying out short, interactive apps that focus on counting and problem-solving. While the kids seem to enjoy these activities, I’m not sure if this screen engagement is as valuable as traditional playtime. How do other parents approach screen time for their toddlers, especially given its prevalence in today’s society?

What methods do you use to manage and limit screen exposure for your little ones? Have you discovered any specific apps or shows that you believe support their development in a meaningful way?

I get what you’re saying, but I think kids can actually benefit from some screen time if it’s educational. We usually limit it to 30 minutes a day and mix in some interactive stuff. It’s helped my kid pick up new words and shapes, but yeah, nothing beats the good old outdoor play!

I get the struggle; my kid loves those counting apps too, but sometimes I wonder if they get too sucked in. I found setting a timer helps limit their screen time without a battle. It’s tough balancing it all—maybe even some outdoor play after a short app session could work?
