How long is too long for baby to sleep in a bedside bassinet?

A common concern among new parents is figuring out how long their little ones should sleep in a bedside bassinet. With so many options available, it can be confusing to know if you’re following the right guidelines. Is there a specific age or weight limit that indicates when it’s time to move them to a crib?

Generally, most bassinets accommodate babies up to about 3-6 months or until they can start pushing up or rolling over. But what has been your experience? Did any of you use the bassinet longer than the recommended timeframe? How did your babies handle the transition?

I’d love to hear your insights or any amusing stories about those nighttime changes!

We used our bassinet until about five months, but my baby was a little squirmy and started pushing up earlier than expected. The transition to the crib was a bit rough at first, but we made it fun by reading stories in the new space. It helped her feel comfortable with the change!
