How does anxiety impact child development at school?

I’ve noticed that more kids seem to be dealing with anxiety lately, particularly due to the pressures of school and social situations. This has led me to wonder about its effects on their overall development. For example, my youngest really struggles to concentrate in class, which only increases their frustration and anxiety about their performance.

It feels like a cycle where anxiety not only hampers academic success but also affects social skills and self-confidence. Have any of you faced similar situations? What strategies have you found effective in helping your children cope with anxiety, especially in their learning and interactions at school? What resources or techniques have made a difference for you?

I totally get what you mean. My kid has had a tough time too, especially with group projects. One thing that’s helped is setting aside some quiet time after school for them to unwind and talk about their day. Simple stuff like that can really make a difference in how they handle things the next day.

I’ve definitely seen this too. My kid sometimes gets overwhelmed and avoids group activities because of it. We started using some breathing exercises before school, and it seems to help a bit with the anxiety. Plus, talking about feelings regularly has created a nicer space for them to open up.
