How do you support a teen struggling with anxiety?

Parenting a teenager can be really tough, especially when they’re dealing with anxiety. My child has been feeling quite anxious lately, and I’m not sure the best way to support them. I want to foster a safe and open environment, but I also don’t want to overwhelm them or come off as too intrusive.

I’ve tried having open conversations about feelings, but it often feels like I’m not getting through. I know every teen is different, so I’m curious about what has worked for others. Do you lean more towards professional help, relaxation techniques, or casual check-ins? Are there any resources that have made a significant difference for you? I’d love to hear your experiences!

Have you thought about trying activities together? Like, going for a walk or doing a puzzle? Sometimes just being side by side without pressure can open up conversations more naturally. Also, there’s a ton of apps for managing anxiety that might be fun to explore together!

I feel you on the whole open conversation thing—it can seriously go nowhere sometimes. I found that just doing normal activities together, like cooking or watching a show, helped my teen open up more without pressure. Professional help can be great, but sometimes it’s the little moments that really make a difference.
