How do you handle teen tantrums effectively?

Dealing with the emotional rollercoaster of raising a teenager can be tough, especially when they have unexpected outbursts. I’ve tried different strategies to manage these situations, but it often feels like I’m just guessing what will work. There are times when I feel like my efforts aren’t helping and might even be making things worse.

I’ve come across various techniques, from letting them vent their feelings to enforcing clear boundaries, but I’m curious to know which methods truly foster a more peaceful home. Have any of you found success with particular approaches? Is there a strategy that seems to work better than others in your experience?

What has been helpful in your household when navigating those challenging moments?

I find that having a cool-down space really helps. Just letting my kid take some time alone without pressure seems to ease things a bit. Have you tried that?
