How do you choose the right sleep training method for your child?

Choosing a sleep training method can feel overwhelming, especially as my youngest starts to squirm in the crib. With so many options out there—from Ferber to gentler no-cry approaches—it’s hard to know what will work best for our family without causing stress for everyone involved.

I’ve experimented with a few methods for my older kids, and while some were effective, others left us all exhausted and irritable. It’s always a balancing act between expert advice and what seems to suit each child’s unique personality. Have any of you faced similar challenges? What factors did you consider when selecting a sleep training method?

I’d love to hear your experiences. What strategies worked for you, or is there anything you would have done differently?

I totally get how tough it can be! For my little one, we ended up mixing a few methods. The gentle approach worked better for her personality, but it took a lot of trial-and-error. The most important factor was probably just keeping the whole mood relaxed, you know? What have you tried so far?

I hear you! We tried the Ferber method with our first kid, and it was rough—definitely gave us more stress than sleep. With the second, we ended up going with a gentler approach, and it was way less chaotic. Sometimes I think it just depends on the kid’s vibe, you know?
