How do you choose educational toys for different age groups?

Picking the right educational toys can be a bit challenging, especially when your kids are at different developmental stages. I recently found myself overwhelmed trying to find toys that would engage my toddler while also challenging my older child. It’s definitely a balancing act—looking for something that fosters creativity and learning without being too frustrating or too simple.

Should I invest in toys that cater to a wider age range, or focus on age-specific options that might provide more benefits? I’m aiming for toys that stimulate both of their minds without cluttering our home. It feels like there’s always so much to consider, especially with the mental load of parenting.

What do you all prioritize when shopping for educational toys? Are there specific brands or types that have worked well for your children? How do you keep them engaging as your kids grow?

I hear you on the overwhelming part! I’ve had success with open-ended toys like building blocks and art supplies that both my 3-year-old and 7-year-old can enjoy together. They can create their own stuff, and it keeps them engaged for hours without needing to buy a ton of different toys. Plus, no clutter!

I usually go for toys that can be used in different ways as kids grow. Like, building blocks or arts and crafts stuff that my toddler can enjoy now and my older one can use for more complex projects later. Have you checked out any specific brands that have a good range for both ages?
