Choosing Healthy Snacks for Teens: What Works for You?

As our kids reach their teenage years, it often feels like they have an endless appetite! Finding healthy snacks that they actually enjoy can be really challenging. I’m trying to find a balance between nutritious options and snacks they’ll actually want to eat. I definitely want to avoid them grabbing chips or sugary treats just because they’re bored.

I’ve started making things like homemade energy bars and fruit skewers, but they don’t always seem as appealing as the store-bought junk food. It feels like a constant struggle to encourage healthier choices when they’re surrounded by so many tempting but unhealthy options. What do you all do to keep your teens happy while promoting good eating habits?

What are some of your favorite snack recipes or ideas that have worked for you? Any tips on how to get your teens involved in choosing or preparing snacks?

Have you tried making yogurt parfaits? My teen actually loves them when I let them pick their favorite toppings. It’s nice because they get to help prep, and it’s way healthier than chips! What fruits do your kids usually like?

I get that! My teens are so picky too. I’ve found that if they help make their snacks, they’re more likely to eat them. We’ve been making kale chips together, and surprisingly, they love them! Just keep trying different things; something will hit eventually.
